The goal of education is to provide the participant with ethnic, multicultural, historical, geographical, and biological knowledge in a creative and interesting way to meet the needs and interests of modern people.
Formal knowledge is no longer enough for today’s youth. Out-of-the-way, active learning methods give students freedom to express their thoughts, provoke creative responses, teach communication and cooperation. Education “Exploring the world in the gardens of Babylon” consists of two parts: Part I theoretical (30 min) and practical (50 min).
In the theoretical part, the educator welcomes the students, tells about the unconventional place of education, the uniqueness, and assigns them to groups with accompanying persons (Group I explores historical and cultural objects from four continents of the world: Africa, Asia, Europe and Australia. Students will see the famous Sydney Opera House, the romantic Trevi Fountain , London Bridge, Berlin Brandenburg Gate, Arch of Triumph, Pyramid of Cheops, Hanging Gardens of Babylon and many others, while Group II explores the botanical vegetation of the Babylonian gardens – compositions of precisely formed topiaries, flowers and decorative trees, their origin, the variety of herbs and garden plants and their uses possibilities).
In the practical part (duration – 20 min.), both groups are divided into 4 groups, which must solve the puzzles based on the studied environment, thereby consolidating knowledge, and at the end of the education, representatives of both groups talk about the studied objects, exchange the most interesting facts in order to reveal the individuality of each student and gain knowledge and skills they need in life. After this education, students are able to look at the world around us with different eyes – it’s like geography, history and biology lessons in a different way.
